Re-pack

Utilizing over 200 volunteers each week, the Food Bank is able to sort and inspect all food donations from food drives and local donors. All product distributed by the Food Bank must be safe for consumption. Our volunteers ensure that donated product is safe for consumption, sealed and ready for use.

With the Food Bank’s relocation to Providence in 2003, we designed a production room that would accommodate a much wider variety of volunteers and groups. The Community Repak program encourages teams of volunteers to work together on large sorting or boxing projects. Ideal for corporate, civic, church and school groups, Community Repak projects may include the bagging of bulk food items such as rice into “easy to use” family packs. Other projects include labeling cans and frozen food products like pizza, packing bread for delivery to low-income senior high rises, sorting and inspecting grocery items, and inspecting and bagging fresh produce.
